So whatever happened with all of those alleged GT6 DLC features?

Ask in the Kotaku area too. I'm sure someone might have read/heard something. We all did think it was a bit of a bluff, the GPS course creation.

...also the Senna features. I expect a big update on May 1st. His 20th Death Anniversary.

I'm at a weird crossroad myslef. I'm about the strongest GT fan there is, yet I've stopped playing GT6 only a couple of months after release because I'm bored of it. Its a very lackluster release. GREAT tracks, good cars, but same old events and not much else. I'm a tuner. I like to tune cars. PD have been truncating that side of the game for the past three games. I just don't share the vision anymrore.

I won't pick it back up until they give us more content. REAL content, not just another GT-R download or the like.

Agreed. Have played every GT since the beginning of time, and its always kept me busy and occupied for months/years. But I think the last time I played GT6 was around the holidays. Just nothing new or exciting enough to warrant playing it that much. And the new physics are awesome, but the sounds still absolutely suck.

The best sounding vehicle is the new Red Bull Xwhatever. I never drive it...

I bought a Challenger SRT, modded it and took it out. Sold it before I put a mile on it. WTF did I just hear? It wasn't the 392, thats for damn sure.

Unexcusable.

Polyphony can trumpet 'realism' all they want. Its isn't THAT much more realistic or a SIM compared to Forza, not when you shut off all the assist and put on sim steering and what not. So I've never understood that 'point'.

Forza has always been more fun, and somehow more customizable and more friendly and accessible and deep with tuning. Something you would pray GT would have in spades, but they don't.

It doesn't draw you in. Its trying too hard to be a simulator that it forgets to just be fun at the same time.

The engine noises are the best example. Turn 10 really cares about immersing you. Polyphony couldn't care less if all the cars sounded like clapped out Civics (and sometimes thats exactly what it feels like)

Even setting aside the major updates, they could do some pretty minor things to keep it interesting: It would do a lot for replayability by awarding the performance points bonus for already golded events. (500 PP race, win it with a 400 PP car, double the prize) Also, I don't know if this is a popular sentiment here, but what happened to the Kei-car events and other low performance point stuff? They can be made challenging, when momentum conservation and finesse are paramount.

Agreed. I prefer real-world races to ballz out purpose built racecar events, honestly. Once you're at that level, all of the cars feel the same. Insane speed, difficult to control, blender-noise drivetrain with transmission whine. Boring. I want more hatchback races. Totally stock races. I also want more tracks. Learning the circuits is the truly fun part, at least for me. Getting every lap to within a couple of tenths is an insane challenge, even if it's not an online competitive time, and for me (medium skill) doing it in a stock S15 Silvia or a lightly breathed-upon Miata is the real joy in these games.

Thinking about this more... You mentioned getting laps to within tenths; I mentioned re-doing events with lower PP cars.... Both of these things could be made interesting if the game kept records and displayed them to you in a way that encouraged more replay.

Go to an event and get a display of a whole spectrum of your previous attempts, cars used, PP, settings, lap timings, standings, etc. And then give you reason to try to better yourself.

I used to do this four HOURS in GT4. Remember the practice arena? It would keep up your best laps for every different car on each circuit. Then you could save the replay for study later. Not that I ever did... But why can't they take that idea and expand it to include more of what you're proposing? I agree. It would make the game more fun. At least from a casual standpoint.

Right now, the only real challenge for me is trying to learn how to play in-car. I've been a front bumper-er since the original Gran Turismo. Seems a real shame to not see that awesome '78 TA interior as much as possible. Forces you to abandon some of the old crutches, like shift lights and whatnot, and focus more on visual cues for braking zones. Hard.

I started at GT5. I'm still front bumper because the gauges work. In-car gauges are so pixellated and the dynamic range is so limited that they are far less visible than they would be in a real car. I know, that's part of the challenge, but....

Right now, I'm struggling with golding the Aventador Super License event, so I spent Sunday night driving Brands Hatch in a stock Aventador for over an hour.

The RedBull X Juniors are fun because they are like a Formula BMW or maybe GP3 or something. The other RBX cars are just too frenetic for me to have fun in. I golded the challenges and took my prize car (thanks for PITing me a few times, virtual Seb!), but I won't use it much. I might try to post a 5 minute Nurb time one day, but I get a bit of physiological anxiety even thinking about it.

I'm still hoping that this game wasn't given the full effort of what PD is capable of. I think it was a move to make Sony happy. This game is like a beta for GT7, which will be released of a system that can handle its smoke and light effects without dumping on the other elements. The lighting is glorious, but hampered by a mandatory reduced resolution, as you can see. Every shadow is like seven pixels.

The next one will be the one that ropes me back in. Especially if the cars sound like cars and not...whatever it is they sound like. Not cars.

If we are going to include launch prices, it could be worse, it could have been $660+ tax for a game with previous gen (ps2) quality vehicles.
